BMA Continues Support for Rumble on the Reef

A large part of Rumble on the Reef’s success, has come down to our strategy to get through both years of COVID 19, as events that get cancelled can take years to rebuild.

A large part of this success, was thanks to BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), who through their small grants program, were able to support us to bring in additional infrastructure to pass COVID regulations, provided extra safety gear such as sanitizer, cleaning agents and more to get the relevant approvals to proceed in both 2020 and 2021.

Skateboarding is growing faster than both investment and organisations can keep up, so moving into the future, aligning with partners with similar values is important to the skateboarding community to ensure longevity and progression. What we’ve loved about BMA, is two of their key focuses strictly align with our community. Their support for mining focusing on materials to create sustainable energy aligns with us and our sustainability plan, and their focus on support for Indigenous Australians helps immensely in our goal to celebrate our First Nations skateboarders.

This year, BMA has continued their involvement to assist with Australia’s Indigenous skateboarding program, Songline skateboarding, to grow its presence and celebration day at the 2022 Rumble on the Reef. BMA’s contribution will help have the best Indigenous skateboarders present, help fundraise for the Songline program, and connect the Songline Athletes with young Indigenous people in the Mackay Region.

We are proud to have them involved and can’t wait to showcase Australia’s Indigenous talent, on the Songline Indigenous Day, September 23, Mackay Qld.
