Welcome to Rumble on the Reef.COVID-19 is the biggest challenge we’ve ever had to face. This event is a significant stepforward in the economic recovery of the Mackay region – encouraging visitors to come back,pumping thousands of dollars into local businesses and supporting local jobs.It’s thanks to the excellent efforts of Queenslanders that restrictions have eased and we canstart to focus on our economic recovery.Events are vital to the Palaszczuk Government’s strategy to rebuild Queensland’s economyand support local jobs long into the future.The Rumble on the Reef event is Australia’s largest action sports festival, offering two weeksof skateboarding, wakeboarding and hydrofoil kiteboarding.The Palaszczuk Government is proud to support this event through Tourism and EventsQueensland.To all those participating, I wish you all the best of luck.If you’re visiting, I encourage you to stay, support local businesses and experience allthat region name has to offer.

We are rumbling again!Mackay is proud to be hosting the 2020 Rumble on the Reef for the third year.This fabulous event has grown into Australia’s largest action sports festival, offeringtwo weeks of skateboarding, wakeboarding and hydrofoil kiteboarding.Rumble on the Reef started in Mackay in 2018 as the Queensland Championships ofstreet skateboarding and Bowl Riding Championships and has rapidly grown into thelargest skateboarding festival in Australia.This year there’s the 2020 ASF National Street Skateboarding Championships, theMoneybowl Bowl Riding Championships, plus two new exciting additions -wakeboarding and hydrofoil kiteboarding. It is going to be a great comp!
In the first event of this festival, the Mackay Sugar Bowl comes alive, when the bestskateboarders come together over a week to battle for the title of AustralianChampion for Street Skateboarding.The Kitefoil championships will be a spectacular sight at Lamberts Beach.Queensland & fastest kite-hydrofoil racers will battle it out in a sea of colour for thetitle of king and queen of the sunshine state.The Seabreeze Hotel will have market stalls, sponsor tents, equipment demos andlive DJs, as well as chill-out areas providing some entertainment between the thrill ofthe race over Saturday & Sunday!Three days of grass roots style wakeboarding is a festival competition that will befantastic to watch. All ages and levels of competitors will battle it out at WakeHouseCable Park in Andergrove. Spectators get free entry to watch these amazing proriders compete for a share in over $10,000 of prizes.Our thanks to the organisers for their hard work in changing the event structure toensure it is held in line with COVID safe measures. New procedures have been putin place to ensure the safety of race officials, competitors and spectators.To all the participants – thanks for coming to Mackay and good luck in the comps.We know this will be a fantastic event.Hopefully you will get a chance to sample the hospitality and scenery that our regionis famous for while you are here.
